Junipers

Identity / Print / Branding / Art Direction / Copywriting

Junipers™ fill in a major gap in women's outdoor activewear. Founded by Emily McAllister, a born-and-raised Sierra Nevada native, Junipers provide a more durable alternative to the standard women's bikini. The top is supportive and comfortable (think sports bra meets active swimwear), while the bottom features a slightly "baggy" style, gusseted running short. Junipers are ready for the dirt trail, a quick swim in the lake, and a beer at the pub afterward.

Fun on the horizon

With a logo that had already been produced, I made a few technical tweaks to help it maintain integrity at small sizes for tag embroidery and screen printing, as well as establish a stronger connection to the brand concept.

The color palette is derived from the land and water where Junipers™ will be worn. Using the colors as a strong horizon line creates a playful and flexible system.

Never hold back.
Always be inclusive.

Junipers™ are all about living life to the fullest and never having to feel held back by your clothes again. No matter where you are, do what you want.

I wanted to instill a sense of whimsy into the brand and capture the ethos of the founder. Junipers™ are designed to be functional in their environment and be inclusive of all body shapes and sizes. There is a spirit infused by the founder of freedom, light heartedness, and adventure.
